TRIBAL MINISTRY

Out of more than 400 tribes in India, CGMM is engaged in cross cultural ministry and has mission stations among fifteen tribal groups in six states in India, who have not even heard about Jesus even once in their life time.

 

VASAVA , THADUVI  & KADIVAL TRIBES

In Gujarat our missionaries are working in the following 6 mission stations: 1) Taropa  2) Umalla  3) Rajpadi  4) Jagadia  5) Kevadia 6) Kakaduva  in Bharuch District.They are about 15 lakhs in number, So far we have given baptism to 900 people and built 6 churches and raised 24 worshipping groups. Main occupation of the people is sugar cane, wheat , ragi and dhal. 30 % of milk has been collected from this place. The whole society inclusive of men and women are heavy smokers and they practice tribal customs and traditions.

As per their social custom community dancing and smoking gutka is an accepted practice. The topographical condition receives heavy rainfall and as a result of this people are infected mostly by extreme climatic conditions.

GONDS TRIBE

We have our Mission Field in Aheri in Gadichiroli District in Maharashtra among  Gonds Tribe who are living in the plain of tiger reserved forest.  They are half naked tribes  They dwell in thatched sheds and they  go for hunting and offer human sacrifice and have belief in superstitious powers. Both the sexes practice to heavy boozing and smoking. All over their body women have tattoos and this is considered as a tribal religious practice.The forest ranges  has thick flora of bamboo and beedi leaves. Adverse climatic conditions make them sick by malaria, typhoid, jaundice, cholera and by other infectious diseases.

MADIA,  BISON - HORN TRIBES

Our Missionaries are working among these tribes in Bamraghad, Aryawada, Hinbatti,  Kotti,  Alwaru,  Purgi and Ettapalli villages which are located in border of Chattiskar (Madhya Pradesh), Andra Pradesh and Maharshtra State. They are about 2.5 lakhs in number, so far we have given baptism to 500 and built 8 churches out of which one was demolished and one was closed due to naxals opposition. We have raised 15 worshipping groups for this tribal people.

 

LAMBADI, AAREY,THEZHI, MANNAI, KOYA  &  BANJARA TRIBES

Our field is located at Kowtala, Ambagatta, Tabba, Sirpur and neighboring areas in Andhra Pradesh. Our Missionaries and Swarthicks are working among the above tribes.  We have given baptism to about 900 people and built 17 churches and raised 15 worshipping groups. This area experiences extreme climatic conditions. Cultivation of rice, ragi, wheat, dhal etc; are their main occupation. These people have belief in evil practices.
